A massive rock-blast took place north of Chicago on Friday night, prompting emergency response personnel to advise the public to stay away from the area.
No cases of death or injury were reported following the explosion, which occurred around 9 pm local time in the Gurnee and Waukegan area, approximately 45 miles north of Chicago, near an intersection where there is an emission control facility.
One witness told WLS-TV in Chicago that she had "heard a big boom" and had seen "debris and sparks flying everywhere". As she got closer, she saw a building "in flames" and heard another "big boom".

The Lake County Sheriff's Office urged everyone to stay out of the area to allow first responders to conduct their operations.
