In light of this, Tesla launched this week a software update with two new features designed to make Tesla vehicles even safer. Specifically, the new features are designed to prevent drivers from inadvertently diverting into adjacent lanes.

The first function, called Lane Departure Avoidance, will detect when a driver begins to turn in a nearby lane.

Tesla notes:

Lane departure avoidance allows the driver to choose to apply corrective direction to keep it in the intended lane. When the function is used and the driver leaves a lane without his blinker activated, the vehicle also checks whether the driver has his hands on the steering wheel. If the driver's hands are not detected on the steering wheel, the driver will receive a series of practical reminders and alerts, similar to those that our cars provide to customers who use the autopilot. The second feature, called Emergency Ground Earthing, is designed to keep a car in its current lane if the system sees that there may be a collision if the car gets off the road. move in another way.

Incidentally, the above features will apply to all cars built after 2016, whether or not you have paid for the Tesla Autopilot Package. Tesla notes that the new features will first arrive on Model 3 vehicles before being moved to the S and X models.
