The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé 2020 is preparing for the world premiere

After many sightings near the Nordschleife in the Nürburgring, BMW seems to be ready to lift the sails of the 8 Series Gran Coupe. Under the code name G16, four-door grand touring will join the G14 and G15 convertibles at the Dingolfing plant in Germany.

The silhouette of the production car is similar to the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe presented by the Bavarians in 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show. With a capacity ranging from 3.0-liter and six-cylinder to 4.4-liter and eight-cylinder, you'll have a choice among many engine options, including turbo diesel engines. Some things, however, never change.

Similar to the 7 Series, the 8 Series based on ARSet Architecture in all configurations is equipped with the ZF 8HP automatic transmission that BMW has been using for a very long time. The M8 will use the M5's M xDrive, which means the 8 Series can be configured to send 100% of the engine's resources to the rear axle.

It should also be remembered that the original 8 series was offered with a V12 while the second coming can not do better than the S63. The twin-turbo V8 is from 2010 and can be rooted in the N63 since 2008.

A recent report suggests that Series 7 could be without the V8 and V12 for the next generation of the full-size luxury sedan. That would be a 180-degree change for BMW, the manufacturer responsible for the McLaren F1's high-rev V12.
