Some of the mysterious background characters on Game of thrones begin to appear as possibly playing an important role in the outcome of the final. These characters usually had a relationship with one of the current characters and ironically made sense of their current situation. It is Melisandre who once warned Cersei that some younger and more handsome would kill her to claim the throne.
Azor Ahai is another legend for thousands of years. Ahai was known to have defeated the wicked Great Other with a sword called Lightbringer. To free the powers of the sword, he had to plunge it into the heart of his wife.
It is said that he will be reborn in "The Prince Who Has Been Promised", although his name may mean all or nothing.
Jon Snow seems the most logical candidate for Azor Ahai
Most people think that Jon Snow will be Azor Ahai born again, based on the idea that Snow is the legitimate heir to the throne of the family line. What makes this more ambiguous are the books that say that Ahai and the Prince are two distinct prophecies. Of course, we know that HBO has drifted several kilometers beyond the volumes of George R.R. Martin.
These prophecies could be identical for the series when you consider that the entire series is on its own path, from where everyone thought it would go. The bad news about Jon Snow, who could be Azor Ahai, is that he could use his sword to plunge it into the heart of Daenerys in order to fulfill the prophecy.
According to other theories, it is Arya who brought Lightbringer's sword to Jon for the story to repeat itself.
Suppose it is a plot too easy to guess based on the direction we take for the authors.
Some of the other theories are for those who are already dead
A dominant theory is that Stannis Baratheon was Azor Ahai. Melisandre says it well, but other characters have said it would not be possible. A contradiction comes from Maester Aemon who stated that the sword owned by Stannis may have been Melisandre's magic, but it was not made from the same properties as the Lightbringer sword.
No doubt the other characters currently living would be relieved to know that Stannis was perhaps the prophecy of Azor Ahai already accomplished. Since Stannis was killed a moment ago, Jon Snow would have one less weight to take out of his mind.
Many twists and turns are still coming on the HBO version of Throne Gamesso maybe it has not happened yet, it would just be embarrassing.
A more intriguing theory: Azor Ahai reborn may be a woman
Yes, the idea that Daenerys is Azor Ahai has also gained ground. Maester Aemon conveyed this idea on the premise that Dany is the true princess.
His affinity with dragons is also a key reason for this theory. Fans note that she could wake the stone dragons, what we saw is an essential part of the prophecy.
Once put in context, this shows that Daenerys has a number of potential results. Having the opposite of Jon Snow, however, could mean that Dany will survive and kill him to win the iron throne.
