Authorities arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a shootout that injured six people at the Oceano Dunes Nature Reserve on California's central coast.

Francisco Orozco, 19, could be the subject of several counts of attempted murder, announced Sunday the sheriff's office of San Luis Obispo County. It was not immediately clear if the Oakland resident had a lawyer.

Six people were hospitalized after the shooting, authorities said.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office indicates that investigators believe that the shooting just after midnight was an isolated incident and that there was no threat to the public.

The conditions of these wounded were not immediately available.

KSBY-TV reported that a large crowd gathered around the recreation area when gunfire broke out. The officials did not identify a suspect or possible motive.

The detectives stayed on the scene all night to conduct interviews and search for evidence.

The area was closed early Sunday but is expected to reopen later in the day.
