The guy who was pursuing the Duffer Bros. because he stole the idea of "Stranger Things" is to make a 180 and end his trial … just before their trial begins.
Charles Kessler would have withdrawn his complaint against Mast and Ross Duffer On Sunday, he also issued a statement that completely refuted all plagiarism complaints he had made against them over the past year.
His reasoning is a bit strange because it seems that he just realized that he had no case against them. Kessler wrote: "After hearing the testimony of the legal expert that I have engaged this week, it is now obvious to me that, whatever I may have believed in the past, my job had nothing to do with the creation of Stranger Things. "
He added, "The 2010 and 2013 documents prove that the Duffers created their show independently, and as a result, I withdrew my application and I will not comment on it anymore."
TMZ broke the story … Kessler pursued the Duffers last April, alleging that he had met them in 2014 to present an idea similar to "Stranger Things" but never heard again – only to see a show incredibly similar to his idea becoming Greenlit by Netflix bros.
He claimed that his short film "Montauk" of 2012 was the inspiration for the show, but he never had credit … nor money. The Duffers, meanwhile, responded by saying that they had documented evidence that they had been working on "Stranger Things" since at least 2010.
We looked at some of these documents – emails that the Duffers were sending Back and forth – and of course, it seemed to prove that they were actually developing a series similar to that of "Montauk" long before Kessler intervened.
Netflix also announced on Sunday … "We are happy to be able to put this unfounded lawsuit behind us, and as we have always said, Stranger Things is an original and revolutionary creation of the Duffer Brothers."

What is strange here is the timing. The scheduled 5-day trial between Kessler and the Duffer Bros. had to start Tuesday in L.A. Hmm … interesting.
