E3 2018 – what will happen this year?

In the morning, Inbox is concerned that Days St. Deacon St. John speaks to himself, as a reader imagines with a Giger-esque FromSoftware game.

Personal prediction

With E3, all eyes are on Microsoft and what they will announce. This is a mystery in many ways because not only do we not know what it will be, but it is also difficult to know if they will reveal it correctly now or if they will wait until next year.

Sony will not do it because they do not want to postpone Christmas sales for the PlayStation 4, but one could say that Microsoft does not have to worry so much about the situation considering the sales of the Xbox One. Except that things are going well in the United States and that, in my opinion, it will count much more for decision making, my personal prediction is that we will not see the Xbox Two, or anything more, this year .

I think we'll probably get statistics, like Sony, and they'll be much more than the PlayStation 5. You do not know why Sony has offered them this easy win, but I guess they can still increase theirs before to get out. I'm sure that Microsoft will be able to show a lot of games and that the technical demos will remain vague, but I guess the real ads will not be until next year. Shortly before I know if I'm right!

PS: Again this weekend, the reader has read very good articles, especially those of Zelda and Days Gone.

GC: They were good, but we're done with the new ones. We currently have no candidates running this weekend.

If it's not broken

I just watched the Japanese charts, as they are still the only ones to have independent sales figures, and have discovered that the Nintendo Switch had just exceeded the 8 million mark. The PlayStation 4 is currently at 8,033,587 (you will see how good it is to have such numbers!), Which means that the Switch will almost certainly pass during this month. An incredible feat considering the advance of the PlayStation 4 and the fact that Sony does not have to worry about the competition of the Xbox One in Japan (its sales for life are 104 942 – and yes, you have well read).

As many of them have found that many of Nintendo's more bizarre decisions are a little more logical when one realizes that they are thinking primarily of the domestic market. So, when things are going well, Japan is when we see them the most confident and the most adventurous, at least in theory. It's interesting to note that there are not too many big differences in how big games sell there, although Splatoon 2 is huge, in a way that Western players probably do not realize.

Zelda is really not as big in Japan as Breath Of The Wild, so it's a guarantee that we'll see more, but more importantly, I think Switch 2 or the following material will be quite similar to the original . I can not imagine a massive change when things are going so well.

Internal monologue

Good report on Days Gone the weekend. I appreciate it, but obviously it's not a winner of the world and the arguments around it are already more interesting than the game itself. One problem, however, which I have not heard many people discuss here, is how much Deacon is talking to himself. I do not know if the whole process of zombie apocalypse is supposed to have made him mad, but sometimes it seems he does not shut up!

This is a problem with a lot of games, especially open world games, but I do not remember the one where I screamed so much on the screen, or found the character interrupting so much the people who are chatting or the action.

And something else, while we're on the subject, what do he and Boozer mean (guy, those names are terrible) when they say they've been in a worse situation at first? They are in the midst of an epidemic of zombies in which they are both likely to die and they try to pretend that it is not a big thing? The scenario of the game is not great, but it's the point that made me look up to heaven.

Automatic interest

It's great to know that PlatinumGames suddenly has so much to do. I thought Scalebound would be their big break, so it seemed like it would destroy them. Then, a sequel to NieR, proved to be their biggest success! What we did not expect, I'm sure.

To be honest, the trailers of Astral Chain and Babylon's Fall do nothing for me, but the fact that the company behind them has already made me 100% involved. I do not think anyone can say that beyond Nintendo, and even then only for the big franchises – they can still be a bit uneven in terms of the smaller things.

No idea – obviously – of what the new game is, but interested in whether it will be their own IP address or if it is another paid job. It seemed to imply it was theirs, so it's automatically exciting because it means it's not a sequel or a license. Although I can not wait to play Bayonetta 3 and kill for Vanquish 2, a new game automatically interests me more and more, no matter who it is.

Too obvious

Being one of the few people apparently to have played Detective Pikachu and enjoyed it, is not it strange that Nintendo did not try to republish it for Switch? If I remember correctly, he had some of the best graphics in the 3DS (because he did not use the 3D effect) and I should have improved his focus quite well. Especially as a Pokemon: Let's Go is not really a graphic powerhouse.

I know that Nintendo is not doing what is obvious, it's a meme for the moment, but it's particularly strange. Even if you imagine that they are preparing to do a sequel, it still does not make sense. This makes less sense because the game ends on a cliffhanger (do not tell me if the movie does it or not!).

Anyway, that's what I predict when the inevitable rumors that Nintendo has unannounced secret games are coming.

GC: It's extremely strange, but hey … you know Nintendo.

Prejudice

RE: Doshin and the inevitable Fortnite movie.

I'm sure you're right and it's almost guaranteed that a big-budget CGI movie will come in at some point. I would not look at it myself if I was locked in a dark room and that was the only DVD available to watch, but I'm not the target audience. A bit like I was not for the Angry Birds movie or the Fortnite game itself.

I have no doubt that the box office turnover would have been more than $ 500 million, because unfortunate adults would have been trained by little Timmy to watch him, so I could see why the Filmmakers would be crazy not to go there. It's a guaranteed gold mine waiting to be opened.

My only surprise is that it was not announced when the phenomenon is still at its peak. You never know when it will suddenly be considered "uncooled", as is now Minecraft.

GC: Minecraft is as popular as ever.

Social behavior

RE: past days. Bravo Korbie, excellent article. It's good to see more and more of this type of opinions emerge on the internet regarding reviewers and the insane behavior of social media.

If articles like this do not stop hitting the best research, there is hope!

Unexpected legend

I agree with the feature film about Zelda and Breath Of The Wild. Even if you accept an excuse to explain why it is not in the main game, I do not know why it was written like that in flashbacks. But all flashbacks were very random for me and showed that Nintendo is not very experienced in this area.

I think Zelda's main problem is simply that Nintendo never imagined that the original game would be so successful and that Zelda's name would become so iconic (to the point that people would take it for Link's name). The original game was heavily influenced by Ridley Scott's Legend movie and even the name is a riff about it, Zelda's bit being rather unimportant.

Imagine, in 1986, that the game became the most critically acclaimed franchise, with many players being named the best game of all time. They knew that I think they would have just given a better name, that's all. That said, I agree that Zelda needs a bigger role. I would be totally happy with a prequel where you control the Breath Of The Wild version, as it would be a chance to redeem this one in particular. If Breath Of The Wild 2 really plays with Zelda, it's great.

Inbox also

I always want to see FromSoftware do a science fiction game. I always love the rumor about one with the art works of Giger-esque. It would be amazing and seems to go on their street.

I can not believe that E3 is only five weeks away. Best time of year for the players, especially since all the leaks should start to hit anytime!

Hot Topic of this week

With Pokémon: Detective Pikachu released this week, the subject of the inbox this weekend was pretty obvious: what is your favorite video game movie?

Which movie based on an existing video game franchise is your favorite movie and why? Is it a good movie in itself or do you just enjoy the link with the game? Are there TV shows or cartoons that you would rate better and what do you think is usually the best way to adapt a video game to a live action or animation?

Why do you think so many movies are wrong and what advice would you give on upcoming movies or your dream projects? And do you think Inspector Pikachu (or Sonic) will change something?
