Liverpool praying for a miracle in the title race, says Henderson

REUTERS: Jordan Henderson has announced that Liverpool players will attend Monday's clashes in the Premier League between Manchester City and Leicester City, asking for a miracle that would give them an edge in the title race.

The Merseyside club, which won the last of its 18 league titles in England in 1990, has two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, but has played one more game.

A win or a draw for Leicester, who beat the champions before Brendan Rodgers became his coach earlier this season, would put Liverpool's fate in his hands before his last league match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

"The guys are going to watch Monday's game and, yes, pray for a miracle," Henderson told reporters.

"I'm sure Leicester, who's a great team, will give everything, will I send a text message to Brendan?" "No, maybe I'll think about it."

"City is an excellent team, but so are we, and whoever wins the title deserves it, we could not have done more, we can not have regrets.

"It's up to the last game and we have to finish in style at Anfield and pray for something, a miracle, to happen."

Liverpool's hopes of winning a brace faded last week when Barcelona beat them 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Henderson, however, said they could reap benefits from their performance at Camp Nou before the return match on Tuesday at Anfield.

"We are not stupid, we know it's a huge task and I'm sure everyone expects Barcelona to progress," added the English midfielder.

"Obviously, we were not happy with the result at the end, but we are still convinced by the performance we did there, I could not have asked more guys.

"It will be difficult on Tuesday, we just have to play as we can, finish in style and we never know what will happen, we can not regret, there are still at least two games to play and we have to focus on their . "
