Norah O'Donnell will not be anchoring for the CBS Evening News until this summer. But the current anchor of the program will not remain on the show until that date.
Jeff Glor, who has been the face of "CBS Evening News" since the end of 2017, told staff he would pull out of the evening news program after Friday's show, according to three people close to the issue. Glor is currently in discussion to assume a new role at CBS News, and Susan Zirinsky, President of Information Operations, said Variety Earlier this week, anchor remains in discussion with CBS News "about two different roles, and I hope it will stay".
Glor leaves the show as part of a larger redesign of CBS News that will not only change the evening show, but "CBS This Morning". CBS is betting that a new team consisting of Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil could reverse the decline in the number of viewers at the MA. program and moving O'Donnell in the evening (and his stay in Washington DC, New York City) will make night-time television news more relevant to a national audience.

Glor has been working for CBS News since 2007 and has earned a reputation for reporting and producing what a staff member has called "beautiful" articles on topics ranging from national debt to an exhibition on Auschwitz concentration camps. exposed at the Jewish Heritage Museum. But staying at "Evening News" at the time of transition is not a desirable role for any presenter or correspondent. This is also not a situation that most networks tend to engage in.
CBS News has declined to make the leaders available for comment, and the network has not yet indicated who could sit on the "Evening News" before O'Donnell begins his term.
