Heavy rains in southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi have resulted in major floods, road closures and even rescues as rivers pour into roads and houses.
According to the Office of Homeland Security and Civil Protection of Washington Parish, the following roads remained closed on Saturday after a rain of 6 to 8 inches of rain fell overnight in the parish:

A state of emergency due to a flash flood was declared Saturday night in Washington Parish, which expands until the water recedes.
"Make a U-turn and do not attempt to cross flooded roads, do not forget to pay special attention when traveling at night when visibility is low and flood hazards are more difficult to recognize. "said officials from the Washington Parish.
Officials said that several homes in the region of Angie and Varnado are flooded, most absorbing 1 foot of water. A house has been confirmed to have flooded with 4 feet of water.

Saturday evening, Washington Parish President Richard Thomas issued a statement in which he urged residents to stay safe and stay clear of roads except when absolutely necessary:
"I, the president of the parish, Thomas, would like to remind the citizens to remain vigilant, because the parish should receive several other storms late in the evening and tomorrow morning.
Rivers and small creeks should continue to increase during the night. Due to the intense and extensive nature of storms, water levels fluctuate, which can cover any road at any time. My Emergency Preparedness Office continues to monitor the weather and will post updates as soon as they are received from the National Weather Service.
At present, many parish and state highways are crossed by water. With the forecast of additional rainbands, I urge all citizens to refrain from driving on the roads except when absolutely necessary, especially at night, when reduced visibility adds to the existing dangerous conditions . "
As more and more rain is flowing through the area, major flooding is underway from Poplarville to Hillsdale, Mississippi, along the Wolf River. The river caused many floods around the Hillsdale area, a water table covering I-59 in both directions. The floodwaters washed away bridges and roads, derailing 20 cars along the tracks.

According to the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department, the following roads are closed due to flooding and derailment.

- Highway 26 at Gator Creek
- Highway 11 to H Burge Road
- Floyd Ladner at Red Creek
- Homer Ladner Road
"If you live in these areas, be careful and use alternative roads if possible, the bridges on these roads are flooded and some roads are also collapsing," county officials said.

New rains fell late Saturday night. A flash eve on the floods continued until Sunday afternoon for a maximum rain of 2 to 4 inches. It is expected that the rain will decrease around Sunday noon as a front will head east and allow the area to dry out from Sunday night.
