Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Compared the Republican Party to one of the best-known TV characters of the decade: NBC's Dwight Schrute, "The Office."

Ocasio-Cortez compared the GOP to the character because the party has a "technique" to take "dry humor" and "sarcasm" literally and check it out, she tweeted on Sunday.

"It's a GOP technique, which is to take literally dry humor and sarcasm and check it out," tweeted the congressman in the first year. As in the case of "the world that ends in 12 years," you need to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it's literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight of The Office, so who knows?

The comparison came in response to critics of his explanation regarding the taxation of the rich.
