Fifty special trombones were distributed to Florida-based students in tribute to a teenager who died as a result of the Parkland shootout.

South Florida's SunSentinel has announced that $ 50,000 worth of instruments have been awarded on Saturday in honor of 14-year-old Alex Schachter, trombone player in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Marching Band. .

Alex was one of 17 people killed by an armed man at school in February 2018.

The instruments are engraved with a pattern combining the name of Alex and a trombone. The money was collected in part by other students playing music at street corners and intersections over the last few months.

Alex's father, Max Schachter, said that because of this gift, his son's love for music "spreads throughout the state".
