Beto O'Rourke, weakened in the presidential primary polls, acknowledged Monday that he needed to "do a better job" to reach a national audience, evoking a series of high-profile media protests that he did not have. had not yet fully adopted in his campaign.
The former Texas congressman told Rachel Maddow on MSNBC that he was "running today the same way we had started," organizing blitzes across the country for an uninterrupted program gatherings and town halls.

"But I recognize that I can do a better job by also addressing a national audience," said O & # Rourke. "I hope that I will continue to do better over time, but we have been extremely lucky with the campaign we have conducted so far."
Although O 'Rourke interviewed Jorge Ramos of Univision, Gayle King of CBS and Chris Hayes of MSNBC, among others, he had expressed his preference for the "eyeball to eyeball" campaign. Mr. O. Rourke has been campaigning tirelessly since the announcement of his candidacy in March. He organized 150 events in 116 cities and answered over 1,000 questions from voters, according to his campaign.
Addressing Maddow, Mr. O. Rourke said, "Going to these public meetings is not just a way to introduce myself. It is a way of learning what is most important for those I want to serve. "
On issues ranging from climate change to access to voters and money in politics, O'Rourke rang the same notes on Monday at rallies and town halls. He strongly reprimanded President Donald Trump for his "collaboration with strong men" abroad.
Trump's foreign policy, said O'Rourke, was a "complete disaster for the United States and the world and made us less, no more, safe."
