Users report that 4K titles from Columbia, MGM, 20th Century Fox and others have also switched to HD. This suggests that this is probably a bug on the part of Apple.]
Over the last few days, many Warner Bros. movies on iTunes have gone from 4K to the simple HD definition on iTunes. This includes titles that customers have already purchased. At this point, it is unclear whether this is a problem on the part of Apple or Warner.

Users took to Twitter and various forums to complain about this problem. Essentially, many 4K quality Warner Bros titles have been inexplicably downgraded to HD. In some cases, Warner Bros movies are even still included in the 4K collections on iTunes, although they are no longer available in 4K.
If you head to the iTunes Store list of an affected movie, such as Harry Potter, you will see that Apple no longer lists it as 4K, but rather HD. A user of the Blu-Ray Forums has compiled a growing list of Warner Bros films concerned:
- 22 Jump Street (2014)
- About last night
- Aloha (2015)
- American sniper
- Annie (2014)

Apple Support has informed at least one user that this issue was caused by changes to Warner Bros, but support agents are not always the most reliable source of information for this type of problem. We have solicited comments from Warner Bros and Apple and will keep you informed if we have news. It is possible that other studios that Warner Bros are also involved, which suggests a problem on the side of Apple.
Apple announced for the first time that 4K content would arrive on iTunes in 2017. At the time, Apple had announced the free upgrade of existing purchases to 4K and the sale of 4K at the same price as HD.
In one look, it looks like a mixed bag. I see WB, Columbia, MGM, 20th Century Fox, etc.

@ 9to5mac Have you seen iTunes movies go back to the HD version (vs. 4K) in the last few days? The relevant titles I see include all Harry Potter, as well as The Matrix 2 and 3 (the original matrix is still 4K)

An idea why some movies on iTunes have lost the 4K today? More particularly Harry Potter.
