Scottie Pippen played 50 games in the Rockets uniform, but said he had an idea of the fans.
Appearing on ESPN's The Jump Monday, Pippen and Richard Jefferson discussed the Rockets with their host Rachel Nichols. When the conversation turned to the future of coach Mike D'Antoni, Pippen said the Rockets coach job was not threatened because the city did not did not pressure his teams to win titles.
"I think Houston likes to win the regular season," said Pippen. "I've played there and they're big fans, but there's not a lot of pressure to win championships here, I hate to say that like that, but that's just how they're up there, they'll allow him to train as long as he wants, he's winning 60 games a season, so good morning.

Jack Pardee, Bum Phillips, Kevin McHale, Jeff Van Gundy and Larry Dierker – all of Houston's coaches and managers who have won a lot of regular season games but were eventually fired for not doing enough in the post-season – would be disagreement.
D'Antoni has won 55, 65 and 53 games in three seasons in Houston, tilting twice in playoffs against the Warriors and Spurs.

The Rockets traded for Pippen as part of a trade deal before the shortened 1999 season. Pippen averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists in a Rockets team that also counted Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley. This team went 31-19 in the shortened season and was the No. 5 seed in the playoffs, losing to the Lakers in the first round.
The Rockets traded Pippen in Portland during the off-season in a package that brought back six players, including Kelvin Cato, Carlos Rogers and Walt Williams.
