5 Realistic Options for the Next Wolverines Head Coach

Michigan basketball should replace head coach John Beilein and although there are many candidates, here are the five most realistic.

Everyone who follows basketball in Michigan has had a 24-hour lightning season, and with the Wolverines embarking on a coaching mission, things are not going to work anytime soon.

In the end, this is the most important hiring of Warde Manuel's career and it is one that will easily define the success or failure of Michigan basketball for the next decade.

Look at how good the football program was when Rich Rodriguez was the head coach, it took a long time to regain competitiveness and the basketball team does not want to go that route.

That being said, there is a lot of talk about the type of coach that Michigan basketball should hire. Obviously, guys like Brad Stevens, Chris Beard, Jay Wright and Tony Bennett would be great hires, but they are not realistic.

Unless Stevens is fired by the Celtics, I do not see it as a possibility. Even in this case, he might be more interested in another job in the NBA. The other guys are not going to leave after winning championships or in the case of Beard, approaching to win one.

That's not to say that Michigan does not have options, that's the case. UM has an elite program, a ton of resources, a solid fan base, a decent group of returning players and everything needed to win.
