The law enforcement officers in Donald Trump's motorcade were injured in an accident Tuesday as they accompanied the president to an event related to Louisiana's energy infrastructure.

"Today, three local police officers were injured in a car accident while they were traveling with the presidential motorcade," said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. in a statement. "All three are being treated in a nearby hospital and are currently in the hospital, stable state."

A journalist following the presidential motorcade tweeted she saw "3 officers on Interstate 10 near Lake Charles while Trump's motorcade was heading towards Hackberry". The president was not injured.

Trump was scheduled to visit parts of Louisiana and speak in front of the Cameron LNG Export Facility about "US energy infrastructure and strong economic growth," according to the White House.
