Tensions rise between Amazon and Walmart.
After Walmart announced Tuesday the launch of free shipping the next day for orders over $ 35, Amazon fought back in a tweet suggesting that its own customers have access to even faster delivery.
"Others are trying to improve their fast shipping game," tweeted Amazon. "In fact, Amazon customers in thousands of cities spread across 44 major metropolitan areas already have access to millions of items delivered for free the same day.Customers are smart – they know the difference."
Amazon offers members of its Prime Member program in more than 10,000 cities, a same-day free delivery for orders of a minimum of 35 USD. The service is also available to non-core members in these areas for a fee of $ 9.98 per item.
As a comparison, Walmart offers same-day delivery of groceries and general merchandise for a fee of $ 9.95 for orders of $ 30 or more. Walmart's same-day pick-up service is free.
Deploying Walmart's next-day delivery comes less than three weeks after Amazon revealed its intention to reduce the default shipping speed of its Prime program to one day.
Soon after Amazon announced that it would speed up the premium shipping, Walmart tweeted: "Free shipping in one day … no membership fees. That would be revolutionary. Stay tuned." # 39; listen. "
