UPDATE: Ubisoft PR has sent an official statement regarding Julian Gerighty's tweets. It's raining a little on the runway that delights Splinter Cell fans. "Julian obviously liked how Julian likes to do it, it seems like our creative directors are having fun right now, we have no announcements yet," said Ubisoft. Let's hope that Gerighty does not "disappear" overnight, as he was one of Sam Fischer's targets, as Ubisoft is obviously not happy at the moment.

It's a way to reveal new information on a much-awaited sequel. Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Ubisoft who recently led Division 2, just released a celebrity tweet saying that he's working for the upcoming Splinter Cell game. Yes, this beloved stealth action franchise that has been dormant for six years. Ubisoft was very shy a new Splinter Cell game So far, Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, said in April: "At some point you will see something but I can not say more than that." Now, it seems that Gerighty could have spilled the beans before the revelation of Ubisoft Games E3 2019 – or it's the kind of social media blunder you hate to see happen.
According to the tweet, Gerighty "is working on the upcoming #SplinterCell" with executive producer Dan Hay (a veteran of the Far Cry series) and creative director Roman Campos Oriola (For Honor). The band seems to enjoy their time together in Lyon, France, and the wine could be involved or not in writing this tweet.

Moments later, Gerighty tweeted a message that can be summed up in "whoops!" – But if that was the case, why not just delete his original tweet? To further complicate matters, he then changed his Twitter profile picture from the Division 2 logo to the famous three-eyed night vision glasses that Sam Fischer wears in all Splinter Cell games.

So, is it a snafu of major proportions that has entire teams of marketers cutting their hair, or is it all part of a tease? planned? Time will tell, especially if Geright's tweets remain intact during the new hours. Again, just knowing that a game is being prepared is not enough to spoil its great revelation these days. Just look Borderlands 3, that Gearbox has hinted with the least subtle teaser picture ever a few weeks before the big shooter's revelation at PAX East. Whatever it is, it seems that more than Splinter Cell is about to arrive, and that is reason enough to party. Hopefully we will have some definitive details (officially approved by Ubisoft) at E3.
