A member of the audience at a humorous show in Florida called the police to assert that the comedian had joked about Islamic terrorism.
Ahmed Ahmed's comedian joke about Muslims at the Off The Hook comedy club in Naples, Florida, scared somebody in the crowd on Saturday who then called the Collier County Sheriff's Department to denounce him. .
"Type in if you're from the Middle East," said Ahmed, according to a clip shared on the club's Facebook page. "Okay, we have a handful of us here, that 's fine, but, hey, just one of us – to tell a joke. "
The man who called the police claimed that the comedian had also joked about the launch of a terrorist cell.
"I do not think it was good," said the man, according to the audio of the call. "It really bothered me. … Is it something that should not be said? "
"I just thought it was terrible. My wife and I looked at each other and felt very uncomfortable, "he said.
The man told the dispatch that he feared the comedian would make a similar joke during Sunday's performance.
The police went to the club on Sunday to talk to Ahmed before his set.
"I do not know if it's about fear, racism, ignorance or Islamophobia, or whatever you want to call it," he said. Ahmed said in response, according to an affiliate of NBC. "It is unfortunate that someone has been very adamant about making a call to 911."
"The cops were even like" WTF "," he tweeted.
It happened to me last night @OTHComedyClub in Naples, Florida! A member of the audience called me on September 11, 2001 because he "feared for his life" for a joke that I told on stage. It never happened to any comedians, I think. Fuck crazy. The cops were even like "WTF"? ??♂️??♂️ pic.twitter.com/hQezwJPXhw
