The Miami Dolphins announced a series of lineup changes on Thursday morning, adding three players as two players were released and two other players placed on the reserve. The changes come as dolphins continue their series of team activities over the next two weeks.
The team added center Tony Adams, goaltender Kyle Fuller and linebacker / forward Nate Orchard. To clear the space on the roster, the team dropped the Isaac Asiata / injured guard, center Kirk Barron, and placed wide catcher Ricardo Louis on the injured reserve due to a knee injury.
Adams joined the NFL last year as an unsigned free agent and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. After being released at the end of preseason, Adams joined the New England Patriots in December, spending five games in the training squad. He played college football in the state of North Carolina, played 50 games with 47 starts and set the school record for most clichés played by an offensive lineman with 3,358.
Fuller was a seventh round pick by the Houston Texans. He played for them in 2017, before joining the Washington Redskins in 2018. He played 11 career NFL games after three seasons at Baylor.
Orchard was a second-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2015, playing three seasons for them before splitting the time between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs last year. He has 69 career tackles with five sacks, one interception, five defending passes and two forced fumbles in 37 games (13 starts). He played Utah at the university, establishing the mark of a school season for sack bags with 18.5 in 2014.
Asiata was a fifth round pick by the Dolphins in 2017, but had only played two games in his first two seasons in the league. After being inactive for most games as a rookie, Asiata spent most of the 2018 season in the training squad. He played collegiate in Utah.
Barron spent four days with the Dolphins. He signed as a non-registered freestyle player earlier in the week after a test at Miami's rookie mini-camp. He has started 39 consecutive games in the past three seasons as a Purdue center.
Louis signed as a free agent with the Dolphins in April after being waived by the Cleveland Browns. A native of Miami Beach, Louis was to join a large body of fast receivers, bringing his 2016 scorecard from 4.43 yards to 40 yards to a group consisting of Jakeem Grant (4.34), Brice Butler (4.37), Kenny Stills (4.38), Albert Wilson. (4.43) and DeVante Parker (4.45). Cleveland's fourth-round pick in 2016, Louis played in 32 games in 2016 and 2017, recording 45 receptions for 562 yards. A neck injury cost him the entire 2018 season and now it seems like a knee injury keeps him from playing in 2019.
The release of Asiata, even with the injury designation, is a little surprising. The guard never found the time to play, despite the struggles of Miami's offensive line over the past two years, making it expendable, but the franchise – albeit with a different coaching staff – has gone two years trying to develop it.
