An F-16 fighter plane crashed into a warehouse while he was trying to land at March Air Force Base in southern California, Fox News confirmed on Thursday. of the air force.
The pilot was not injured and there was no immediate report of ground injuries, said Major Perry Covington, director of public affairs at the base.
Interstate 215, which connects the base to the warehouse, has been closed in both directions, reducing traffic during peak hours.
Television reports showed a large hole in the roof and sprinklers inside the building about 65 miles east of Los Angeles. The cockpit awning of the aircraft was on a runway and a parachute had been installed in a nearby field.
The pilot was ejected and was undergoing medical evaluation, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.
The F-16 is assigned to the Air National Guard, officials said. A senior official told Fox News that the F-16 was one of North America's aerospace defense command aircraft and was armed.

The base houses the fourth headquarters of the Air Force Reserve Command and various units of the Army Reserve, the Naval Reserve, the Marine Corps Reserve, the Guards National Air Force of California and the National Guard of the Army of California.
The cause of the accident was not known immediately.
