Ashley Massaro, a former WWE wrestler and contender for reality TV, has died, the WWE announced Thursday. She was 39 years old. The cause of death is not yet known.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Massaro won WWE's "Raw Riva Search" in 2005 and a major match against Melina at Wrestlemania 23 in 2007. She appeared in 2007 on "Survivor: China", but was eliminated in the second episode .

The WWE said in a statement that Massaro had played at the WWE from 2005 to 2008 and was "loved by fellow superstars and fans around the world".

According to NBC News, Massaro was one of 60 former professional wrestlers to join in bringing a lawsuit against WWE. The lawsuit was filed last year by a federal judge who characterized the prosecution's claims as "frivolous" or to have declared that they had occurred outside the law of limitations. WWE denied the allegations of the lawsuit.
