Speculation about Archie's birthplace was finally dispelled with the publication of his birth certificate on Friday.
In the days leading up to the birth, the tabloid press speculated that Meghan would opt for a home birth at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. Some British media later reported that she had given birth in London.
The certificate shows that Archie was born at the Portland Hospital, a private hospital located in the West End of London.
A spokeswoman for the Portland Hospital said in a statement: "Great congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for the birth of baby Archie.
"For reasons of confidentiality, we can not provide any comments or information."
The occupation of Meghan is listed as Princess
On the certificate, Meghan's work is listed as "Princess of the United Kingdom".
The royal family is riddled with arcane traditions and protocols, including one that states that the position of the woman in the hierarchical order is validated by her royal blood husband.
Thus, even though Meghan bears the title of princess, she is officially known as Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex – whom the queen gave her before her marriage in 2018.
Harry recorded the birth
Prince Harry recorded the birth of Archie himself, according to the certificate. It also shows that the new father took 11 days to do it – the registration date is May 17th.
Max Foster from CNN contributed to this report.
