The sub-brand Huawei Honor announced its latest phone, the Honor 20 Pro, in the face of growing US hostility to the brand. Despite the ban, and Samsung's ability to profit from the loss of Huawei, the company and its sub-brand Honor have gained worldwide fame for their phones, showing a 50% growth this month. Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 will still be marketed in countries other than the United States. Despite Google's compliance with the removal of Android support for new phones, both Honor devices will ship with Android 9 Pie.

The Honor 20 Pro has some similarities with the flagship Huawei P30 Pro (909 $ on Amazon). Its rear design is jazzy and you'll notice a familiar triple camera bay at the top. This includes a standard 48-megapixel lens, a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens that offers 3x lossless zoom.

Honor 20 Pro packs several cameras without the price …

The periscope zoom of the P30 Pro is not available, which allows this phone to get a huge 10x zoom lossless. I guess Huawei wanted to keep some of his gifts for himself. Instead, is what the company calls a macro lens, designed to get close to the smallest details. However, it is only 2 megapixels and the results are not a subject of writing.

Both phones feature a 32-megapixel front camera, but while that of Huawei is hidden in this teardrop-shaped notch, that of Honor is in this little pierced hole.

The 6.2-inch screen of the Honor has a resolution of 2,480 x 1,080 pixels which is almost identical to that of the P30 Pro. Both phones use the latest Huawei Kirin 980 processor with 8GB of RAM.

There are a few other differences to note – the screen does not curve around the edges like the P30 Pro and there is a built-in fingerprint scanner at the edge of the phone rather than the superb scan of the phone. Huawei's fingerprints on the screen.

This means that the Hono 20 Pro will be offered at a more affordable price. Although Honor has not yet said how much it would cost, the company confirmed that the price would be less than $ 650, which is about £ 510. This puts it far enough below the asking price of £ 900 for the P30 Pro.

If that's not cheap enough, Honor also has a standard 20, which has a slightly smaller battery and loses the telephoto lens. Then there is the Honor 20 Lite, which reverses the situation with a less powerful processor and only 4 GB of RAM. Expect these two phones to cost even less.
