It is probably safe to say that the majority of players are dying to get their hands on Cyberpunk 2077, the epic epic of neon dystopian role-playing in CD Projekt Red's open world, but we still have some time to lose. Until then, how can we create the mood?

Cyberpunk is not a game, it's all kind of fiction, covering all media, including interactive media. Here are seven cyberpunk games that you can play until 2077.

Deus Ex (any of them, seriously, only choose one)

For many players, Deus Ex is the definitive series of cyberpunk games, offering a mix of first-person action and role-playing that has undoubtedly influenced Cyberpunk 2077. Since its inception almost 20 years ago, the game Deus Ex was created.

The first two are classic, but if you need something more contemporary, the 2011 precedent, Human Revolution, is excellent. And yes, it is backward compatible on Xbox One. Meanwhile, its 2016 Mankind Divided suite is readily available on current generation consoles.

If you want something on the move, you'll even get mobile games in the form of Deus Ex: The Fall and Deus Ex Go.

Observer

Observer is a first-person psychological horror game that clearly establishes its cyberpunk environment by inspiring more of a replica Blade Runner. it takes place in a very claustrophobic, worn-out version of Poland, where a hard-skinned detective announced by Roy Batty himself, Rutger Hauer, has to solve a mystery by hacking the cerebral increase of the suspects.

If the claustrophobic horror and mystery seem to you too slow and scary and you want a fast-paced bloody action, look no further than Ruiner – A shooter inspired by a story that takes place in a beautifully realized cyberpunk metropolis that is inspired by Akira Ghost in The Shell, with a fierce fight inspired from Miami Hotline and [anything else?], and a pumping soundtrack to boot.

Most cyberpunk is dark, grainy, quite serious and rooted in the 1980s; If instead you want something bright and colorful, clumsy like everything and inspired by the '60s, check out Jazzpunk. He always tackles a surprising amount of cyberpunk themes. It's like Mad Magazine's Spy Versus Spy plays the role of Neuromancer, but as a comedic adventure game in the first person.

In reality, the problem of cyberpunk dystopias is that they are probably terrible in which to live … So why not get drunk? VA11 HALL-A is a new visual novel in which you assign the course of history by serving different combinations of characters to characters to drown their sorrows, in a futuristic neon context. Blade Runner and Akira, two classics of cyberpunk, offer scenes of iconic bars. It's almost surprising that it was not done sooner.

So maybe you want a little less cyber and a little more punk? Watch Dogs 2 is, of course, the big colorful sandbox action game from Ubisoft in which players help a gloomy group of pirates to eliminate a state of oppressive surveillance of social media in cyberpunk dystopia from the real life of the San Francisco bay.

Of course, this may be a traditional AAA action game in a contemporary context, but it is a group of low-tech people evolving in a corrupt society. This is pretty manual cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk 2020

Finally, if you're dying to get lost in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, why not play the game that started it all … pen and paper, Cyberpunk 2020? Gather friends, roll dice and cause problems in Night City! Thanks to the hype surrounding Cyberpunk 2077, the copies of Mike Pondsmith's basic rule book for 2020 are in great demand on eBay, but do not worry! Legitimate reprints can be ordered directly from the R. Talsorian Games website!

… or if it's too much trouble, here's a video of Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith, who plays at one of IGN's biggest table nerds.

Max Scoville is an animator and producer at IGN, you can find him on Twitter. @ MaxScoville or check out the vaguely cyberpunk diorama that he builds on his Instagram account.
