MARLBORO, Mass. (WBZ) – A man from Marlboro, Massachusetts, returned home after work and realized that someone had stayed at home while he was away. He was not stolen, he was finally pleasantly surprised.
"You can smell the cleaning chemicals," said owner Nate Roman. "I could tell something was wrong, so I started looking around the house and found that my bathrooms had been cleaned."
Police told WBZ-TV that Roman called them on May 16 to report a break-in. He said that he had gone home the night before and noticed that someone was at home. But nothing was missing. In fact, it looked great. Several rooms in the house were cleaned and a bag of garbage left behind.
"I would say that the bathrooms were very well appointed, my son's room has never been so beautiful, but it is now back to its original state," said Roman.
There was no evidence of damage or break-ins. The police have spoken to their neighbors and nobody has seen anything suspicious, so there is no suspect.
"It was a few days of tension, just worried," said Roman. "Because someone was in the house. It's like I'm waiting to open a wardrobe and find this scary artifact, you know.
Roman thinks that a housekeeping service may have been cheated out of house, because he's left the backdoor open. These are the toilet paper roses that leave no doubt.
"These are really the roses that really made me think that a professional cleaner had stumbled into my house," Roman said. "If I were going to judge the quality of a toilet paper rose, I would call it high quality."
There was a room that was not cleaned.
"The only thing they did not do was clean the kitchen, which was a little disappointing," Roman said.
