The Florida Forest Service warned families of the smoke and flares expected from the Yellow Bluff fire until the Memorial Day weekend.

Firefighters said Friday that the weather was good for them and the fire was much better than expected.

It went from 450 to 600 acres from day to Friday. Terrell Drew, of the Florida Forest Service, said that much of the increase in area occupied was in hard-to-reach swamps.
