President Donald Trump's lawyers said on Saturday that they have reached an agreement with congressional leaders to delay the transfer of bank records from Trump accounts.
The Trump files of Deutsche Bank and Capital One are being sought by the committees of the Chamber of Intelligence and Financial Services amid investigations of alleged foreign influence over the US elections.
The agreement has been reported for the first time by CNN; it was later confirmed by NBC News.
On Wednesday, a federal judge ruled that banks could hand over the documents requested under Congressional subpoenas. But the leaders of these committees have reached an agreement with the Trump team to put an end to the court-approved transfer, while the president's lawyers have appealed.
In exchange for pressing the pause button, the committee leaders asked the lawyers to engage in an expedited appeal process.
"I can confirm that an agreement has been reached with the House regarding the suspension of subpoenas pending the appeal," said the president's outside counsel, Jay Sekulow, in a statement.
The president's lawyers "have accepted an accelerated appeal," he said. "However, the court will set the final timetable."
Following Wednesday's decision, Deutsche Bank announced that it would transmit the requested documents. Capital One did not comment immediately.
Deutsche Bank lent millions of dollars to the real estate company Trump before he became president. Trump carries out some of his personal banking transactions with Capitol One.
