NATIONAL ANTHEM: Kelly Clarkson will perform the national anthem for the second year in a row. Clarkson also sang the Anthem at the Indy 500 in 2011, when she collaborated with Seal.

WEATHER Questionable. Although there is a decent chance that the race may start at the scheduled time, rain and thunderstorms are expected almost throughout the afternoon. Weather Channel predicts temperatures ranging from -70 to 70%, with chances that precipitation will increase from 25% at the start of the race to 80% around the projected checkered flag.

LAST TIME: Will Power took third place ahead of pole winner Ed Carpenter by 3.159 seconds to win his first Indy 500 and 17th for team owner Roger Penske. Scott Dixon, who won the 2018 IndyCar Championship – his fifth in the series history – finished third.

S & # 39; ALIGN: Simon Pagenaud, 2016 champion of the IndyCar Series, signed the fastest qualifying time in the Fast 9, placing a Penske car on pole for the 18th time.
