Report: UFC fighter Alex Oliveira escapes police after alleged assault on his ex-wife

The UFC welterweight, Alex "Cowboy" Oliveira, was reportedly wanted by police in Rio de Janeiro after assaulting his ex-wife and taking his five-month-old son with him on his motorcycle.

According to several Brazilian media, including G1, UOL and ESPN Brazil, Oliveira was intoxicated and reportedly attacked her ex-wife on Saturday while she was visiting her parents with their five-month-old son. He would have hit her and pulled her hair before leaving without a helmet on their son on his motorcycle.

"According to his former partner, he appeared to be intoxicated and wanted to take the child and leave with the motorcycle," said police chief André Lourenco in the UOL report. "They started a fight and he would have attacked her with punches to the head and slaps. Her parents intervened to put her at home, but he, very agitated, would have broken the door of the room and attacked it again.

"She removed the key from her motorcycle, but he recovered it, took the child and left. The police were called, located the child in a neighboring property with his sister and he was not there. It has not been located so far.

Oliveira would have left the child at her sister's house before disappearing.

An unidentified member of the Oliveira team told MMA Junkie that the reports were not accurate and that Oliveira intended to meet the police to give his point of view, although the team member also stated that the police were not looking for Oliveira.

The fighter would also have been involved in a drunken altercation with a security guard at a party preceding the alleged incident with his ex-wife.

Oliveira, 31 (19-7-1, 2NC) just lost two consecutive defeats, including a unanimous loss against Mike Perry at the UFC on ESPN + 8 on April 27 in Florida.
