Jennifer Dulos: A foreign husband arrested in connection with the disappearance of Connecticut

The former husband of a Connecticut mother who disappeared after dropping off her five children in school was arrested in the case, along with her friend, police said.

The two men were arrested around 11 pm Saturday in Avon, Connecticut, police said. They are accused of interfering with the prosecution and tampering with evidence of Jennifer Dulos' disappearance.

Fotis Dulos, 51, and Michelle C. Troconis, 44, are being held for $ 500,000 bail. They are scheduled to appear in Norwalk's superior court on Monday, police said Sunday morning.

Ms. Dulos, 50, disappeared on May 24, shortly after dropping off her five children in school. The New Canaan Police Department responded to a complaint about a missing person later in the night. Authorities are still looking for Ms. Dulos and are trying to determine if she has been a victim of a criminal act.

"We are conducting an investigation into missing persons and a criminal investigation at the same time," Lieutenant Jason Ferraro, spokesman for the New Canaan Police Department, said Friday. "As these investigations develop and become more involved, we are obviously looking at different avenues."

Mr. and Mrs. Dulos were locked in a battle for the care of their five children. In an application, Mr. Dulos recently claimed that their five children were being held under armed surveillance in their grandmother's apartment in New York. Ms. Dulos filed for divorce almost two years ago.

On Saturday, police began searching Mr. Dulos' home in Farmington, Connecticut. continued Sunday morning in a second home in Farmington, linked to Mr. Dulos, according to The Hartford Courant. More than two dozen police cars were seen outside the luxury home, which is valued at nearly $ 3 million on the website of Mr. Dulos' real estate firm.

Mr. Dulos is a graduate of Brown University and has a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia Business School, according to his company's website. Ms. Troconis works in marketing and event planning. She is a former ESPN producer in Argentina and Chile, according to her LinkedIn profile.

A spokesman for the New Canaan Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comments on the arrests.

An interfaith vigil organized by Ms. Dulos' friends will take place in her honor in New Canaan on Sunday evening.
