SAN DIEGO – A California mother suing Tesla after her son, a toddler, put his parked car in and drove it in.
"The lawsuit alleges that the vehicle does not include the appropriate security screening devices to ensure that the vehicle is not used unintentionally," according to a Gokal Law Group, Inc. press release.
Mallory Harcourt was eight months pregnant when the accident occurred in December 2018 at her home in Santa Barbara, California.
Harcourt said that she had parked the Tesla Model X in the driveway and turned off the engine.
According to Harcourt's lawyers
: "Leaving the falcon's doors open to retrieve her toddler and later the grocery store, she headed to the garage with her son behind him." By calling his son from the vehicle, the SUV 5,500 pounds is accelerating toward her.
