The CEO did not make it clear that the new Roadster was late or confirmed the production schedule, but said it was not a priority at the moment.
Musk also hinted at a potential production volume for the new Roadster for the first time:
"I do not know, but it's probably not more than 10,000 [units per year]. "
While Musk is timid about timing, he's not hesitant to improve the performance of the new Tesla Roadster:
"We are going to do some things with the new Roadster that are rather unfair to other cars."
He again referred to the "SpaceX package", which consists of cold air thrusters installed on the vehicle to give it incredible power.
The CEO mentioned a 3G push potential:
"If you have 3 G of push, you can go in any direction. You can climb and accelerate with more than 2G. "
This is not the first time Musk has said that the new Roadster will be able to take off.

I have the feeling that the 2020 goal of Tesla was the best possible scenario in 2017, which means that 2020 would be the year of the Roadster's exit if everything went well.

The figure of 10,000 units a year is also interesting, although I think it's very positive.

In my humble opinion, the new Tesla Roadster will be available in low volume after the ramp-up of the Y model, which should put it more in the middle of 2021. I can see that Tesla has passed from 2,000 to 5 000 units in 2022.
The Tesla pickup truck will probably be a priority, but Tesla can not push the Roadster too far, because they have already made reservations with deposits.
