On May 23, the cosmetics retailer announced that all US stores, distribution centers, and corporate offices would be closing for inclusion workshops.

In April, SZA tweeted about her experience in a Sephora in Calabasas, California. saying that security was called because one staff member thought that she was stealing from the store.

"Lmao Sandy Sephora located at 614 Calabasas called security to make sure I was not flying in. We had a long conversation, you have a blessed day, Sandy," SZA tweeted.

Rapper SZA performs on the Coachella Stage during the first week of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, April 13, 2018, in Indio, California.

On May 1st, Sephora responded to the tweet by saying, "You are part of the Sephora family and we are committed to ensuring that all members of our community feel welcome and are included in our stores."

In a statement posted on the Facebook page of Sephora, the company also announced its new campaign "We belong to something beautiful", which focuses on inclusion in its staff and with his clients.

Sephora said she "will never stop building a community where diversity is expected, where self-expression is honored, where everyone is welcomed and you are included."

The evolution to diversity training is similar to the way Starbucks handled a charge of racial profiling.

The coffee chain closed its 8,000 stores nationwide in 2018 to undergo diversity training following an incident in which police were arrested over two African-American men. who were meeting in a place in Philadelphia. Starbucks has since changed its policy so that purchases are no longer required to spend time in a Starbucks or use the toilet.
