Apple builds a major defense against spam calls in iOS 13

Apple takes a new step to combat spam calls in iOS 13. Today, you can already install third-party spam filtering filters on your iPhone, but if that's not enough ( or something you do not want to do), iOS 13 will add a new solution this fall: it will be able to automatically cut any incoming call from an unknown number. Better yet, he will automatically send them to voicemail.

The new option "Disable unknown callers" can be turned on or off according to your preferences, but I think most users will activate it just after the update and leave it there. This feature is explained on this iOS 13 news page.

So many spam emails that we experience daily are spoofed to look like a local number. But Apple says that iOS 13 "will use Siri's intelligence to allow calls to ring your phone from numbers in Contacts, Mail and Messages." Any number not found in one of these locations will be routed to voicemail.

You will not have to worry about the noise or buzzing of your phone when they enter. The call will not even show on your screen. You will avoid any interruption if you use your phone. iPhone when a spammer tries to call you. It makes sense that Apple continues to record a voice message for those cases where it is an emergency situation.

This should be a very useful middle ground between leaving your phone fully open to all unwelcome calls and the extreme option of enabling the Do Not Disturb feature and allowing your contacts only to pass when they call you. When this new option is enabled, iOS also takes into account mail and messages, so you will not miss to hear people for whom you have not yet had the opportunity to create a contact. If you often receive calls from strangers, the "silence of unknown callers" will not be the ideal solution for you. But I hope that there will be others soon.
