Hadestown On June 7, it was originally announced the release of its original Broadway Cast Record record on all major streaming platforms. In order to meet the extra time needed to mix the album, the pieces of the recording will rather be released in batches this summer.
The first digital version will be released on 4 June at 00:01 with four tracks, and nine more after 7 June. Three other largesse, each linked to pairs or groups of characters from the mythologically inspired musical, will follow on June 28 and July 26.
In total, the recording (which will later be physically released as a double album) will feature 40 tracks covering more than two hours of music.
Anaïs Mitchell, Tony winner, author of the book and score of the musical, is in the history of Broadway as the first woman to write the book, music and lyrics for a solo musical since 1978 Runaways.
"We immersed ourselves in the editing and mixing of these beautiful performances of more than two hours and we realized that we did not have the courage to do what looks like a very special recording that we hope to live still a long time, "said Mitchell a statement. "We hope this will give people a chance to once again appreciate the unique gifts of our unicorn business and will give us the time we need to make sure we create the most magical record possible."
Hadestown has won 14 Tony Award nominations, the highest number of all shows of the season, and most recently, the Drama League Award for Best Musical.
The album will be produced by David Lai and Todd Sicakfoose, who had already produced the live recording of 2017 as well loved from the series previously presented at the New York Theater Workshop.
Tony's nominee, Rachel Chavkin, directs the Broadway production, starring Eva Noblezada, Tony's nominee in the role of Eurydice and Prefect Carney, in Orpheus. André De Shields (Hermes), Patrick Page (Hades) and Amber Gray (Persephone) join them.
