The first beta version of the new iPadOS has a hidden and important feature: the support of the mouse.

Developers using the first beta version of iPadOS have discovered that you can control the software with the help of a mouse plugged into your iPad. The feature has not been announced by Apple and it's a part of accessibility options rather than a default option. The same option, however, will also allow you to wirelessly connect an Apple Magic Trackpad.

By writing on Twitter, developer Steve Troughton-Smith is showing an iPad screen controlled by a mouse cursor. He clicks on the commands of the applications and also handles the home screen.

This feature is similar to the longstanding iOS that allows you to replace the old physical home button with an icon on the screen. It was intended for people who had difficulty pressing the Home button, but also tended to be used by people whose buttons were broken or broken.

In use, the mouse cursor does not look like an ordinary Mac finger, but rather a virtual finger, as in video recordings.

Troughton-Smith has also confirmed that the same feature is available when you use an Apple Magic Trackpad associated with your iPad under iPadOS.

AppleInsider The reports will be broadcast live throughout WWDC 2019, starting with the keynote address on Monday, June 3rd. Check out all the listings by downloading the AppleInsider app for iOS and making sure to follow us on YouTube, Twitter @appleinsider, Facebook and Instagram.

Update: Troughton-Smith also confirmed the functionality of the mouse works on iPhone and iPod touch.
