A Texan family said his daughter's graduation ceremony was spoiled when Walmart gave them a Styrofoam cake.
The teary-eyed mother, Marsy Flores, said the party's plans had collapsed when the Pasadena family had recently cut the cake and realized that the treat was inedible.
"They can not replace the moment we lost," Flores said, frosted, to the local television channel KPRC.
"This is my baby, and she was a graduate, so it was very important to me."
On the morning of the ceremony, Flores announced that she had gone to get the two-level celebratory cake she had ordered in advance for graduation from her daughter Lia but had arrived at the school. she had learned that the order had been lost.
Walmart offered to give him another smaller cake for free, which they decorated with a picture of Lia and other graduation embellishments.
But when the family went to cut the cake that night to celebrate this sweet moment, they realized they had been sold a piece of styrofoam frosted.
"It's a special moment, and that's what we got, a polystyrene cake," said Flores. "Not only were they mistaken once, they did it twice."
Lia's sister, Nelly, who filmed the incident, said she was "completely shocked" before the fake cake was returned to Walmart.
A $ 60 gift certificate was offered to the family for its inconvenience. Walmart told KPRC that the incident was a "misunderstanding".
