CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Two local Smoothie King franchises were temporarily closed after employees at two stores in the Charlotte area were fired after including racial epithets on customer receipts.

The first incident occurred Sunday afternoon at Smoothie King, off the mountain. Holly-Huntersville Road, near Latta Grove. A customer took the picture of a receipt with the n-word written on it after ordering a drink at the store.

The receipt photo was then posted on social media by a family member who tagged Smoothie King. The company initially indicated that it was investigating the case after the client had stated that "her aunt just wanted a smoothie! It's ridiculous and sick … "

A second incident occurred at the location of Davis Lake Smoothie King.

Both employees were fired according to the company.

"Today, two franchises from our Charlotte franchise stores are totally unacceptable and run counter to all the values ​​we champion," Smoothie King CEO Wan Kim said in response to a request for information from WBTV News about the incidents. "Two members of our team MPs wrote inappropriate racial remarks about our guests.

On Monday, a third person posted on Facebook said he was also victimized.

Senator Mujtaba Mohammed from District 38 of North Carolina tweeted about the incident later Sunday night, calling Smoothie King to propose a "resolution" and a public apology to the clientele and the city.
