Dallas-based Southwest Airlines launched its summer sale early Tuesday with one-way tickets starting at $ 49 and round-trip tickets starting at $ 98.
Southwest sells tickets twice a year to fill airplanes during the slow months that follow peak travel periods. Although the end of the summer is still in a few months, Southwest is betting that it is the perfect time for travelers wanting to plan and save money.
Ticket prices vary depending on the day of the trip, but travelers should be aware that the next southwestern fare sale will not take place until October. This ticket sale lasts three days and includes travel from August 20 to December 18. Thanksgiving and Labor Day are not included, however.
Take a look at some of the lowest rates below while keeping in mind that travelers can combine two one-way tickets – a return ticket for the southwest and return by another airline – to potentially maximize their savings. Travelers can also take advantage of the sale to build a more affordable trip to a destination like Havana, Cuba.
