The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, made an unspoken statement with her outfit at the American dinner at Buckingham Palace last night. In particular, she sent a subtle message to President Donald Trump with the tiara that she chose to wear.

Middleton's diadem choice for the US State dinner not only sounded magnificent, but he also sent a subtle message to President Trump.

The subtle message was that the Duchess of Cambridge, along with the rest of the British royal family, respects the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and that she will always love him and continue to honor his legacy.

Princess Diana is known to love her lover's tiara and is now Middleton's favorite tiara to don for special occasions.

According to the royal etiquette, married women of the British royal family are allowed to wear a tiara on very formal occasions – such as a state dinner – or for ceremonial purposes.

Donald Trump's Comments on Kate Middleton in 2012

We can imagine that the US State dinner may have been embarrassing for Middleton and Trump, given the comments he made on it in 2012.

While they were on vacation in a 640-acre estate in Provence, France, paparazzi photographed Middleton sunbathing topless about a kilometer away, with a very tough zoom lens according to Vogue.

Closer to home, a French tabloid released the snapshots that brought the courthouse to sue them. The legal battle ended in 2017 with Prince William and Middleton who received 100,000 euros in damages. Two members of the tabloid staff also had to pay an additional fine of 90,000 euros.

After the initial publication of the photographs, Trump consulted Twitter to share his impressions of the breastless photographs.

"Kate Middleton is great – but she should not tan naked – she herself is to blame," Trump told Twitter in 2012.

In a second tweet, he added, "Who would not take Kate's picture and make a lot of money if she tan naked? Go Kate! "

Trump's comments in 1997 on Princess Diana

Trump has not only spoken publicly about Middleton, but also about Princess Diana.

In 1997, in an interview with Howard Stern, a radio personality, Trump said he could have "nailed" the Princess of Wales.

Here is the exchange between Stern and Trump in the interview:

Stern: "Why do people think it's selfish to say that you could have had Lady Di? You could have had it, right? You could have nailed it.

Trump: "I think I could have," adding, "She was really very beautiful.I thought she was beautiful supermodel.

Trump had not finished talking about the late Diana.

"She had times when she did not look great and she had moments where she looked better than anyone in the world," Trump told Stern. "But she had height, she had beautiful skin, she was of great beauty."

A friend of Princess Diana, journalist Selina Scott, said the current president had given the princess "goose bumps".

She also said that the princess felt like being hunted down by Trump, who would send sumptuous bouquets to Kensington Palace for her.

Although we do not know what words were exchanged between Middleton and Trump at the US State Dinner yesterday, we know that they would have a lot talk about.
