The single student who completes his studies in a small island in Massachusetts nevertheless receives the star treatment.
Actress and comedian Jenny Slate will speak at this month's graduation ceremony at Cuttyhunk Elementary School, a one-room school on the island with approximately 12 residents.
Slate's audience will be Gwen Lynchthis year, the only grade eight graduate, her family and other Cuttyhunk residents.
Michael Astrue, a summer resident who was responsible for finding a speaker, tells the Cape Cod Times that Slate knows the island as being from Massachusetts.
Slate played Mona-Lisa Saperstein in "Parks and Recreation" and is a former cast member of "Saturday Night Live".
Astronaut Cady Coleman spoke at the graduation of Gwen's brother, Carter, last year.
