The Los Angeles Lakers hire Lionel Hollins as an assistant coach, ESPN sources told the league.
The Lakers have made it a priority to add a head coaching experience to the staff of new coach Frank Vogel, who now includes Hollins and Jason Kidd.
Hollins, 65, is the most successful head coach in the history of the Memphis Grizzlies and led the Nets to the playoffs in 2015.
Hollins set a record for Grizzlies in terms of winning percentage (.683) and wins in regular season (56) and reached the first franchise final in the Western Conference in 2013. Memphis reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons under Hollins.
Hollins led the Nets for two seasons after replacing Kidd in 2014-15.
Hollins played a decade in the NBA, winning a title (1976-1977) and forming a star team (1977-1978) with the Portland Trail Blazers.
