The Bruins are the 2019 National Champions of the NCAA Softball.
In tonight's game, the Bruins took the lead where they stopped last night. Bubba Nickles and Briana Perez placed two of the first four shots over the left field wall to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. With two outs, Taylor Pack has made a mistake. Brianna Tautalafua broke ground, moving Pack to second place, and Colleen Sullivan started the march. But Kinsley Washington blocked the first baseline to end the inning.
In the third set, the teams exchanged home runs. Oklahoma, as the visiting team, got their first goal at the beginning of the inning, but the Bruins responded when Aaliyah Jordan agreed to mark the start of the bottom half of the inning. The Bruins had the opportunity to score more when they loaded the goals with two outs, but Kelly Inouye-Perez dominated the situation and crushed Quarles for batting champion Pac-12 Kelli Godin and Quarles ended at the sleeve.
The Sooners were able to tie the score, 3-3, in the top of the fourth by scoring a pair of points on a single and a double.
Brianna Tautalafua continued to cry in the final as she entered her second homer in two games in the fifth inning to give UCLA a 4-3 lead. Neither of the teams scored sixth, the Sooners were out of the news.
Rachel Garcia immediately got the first two outs with center and left starts. The Sooners were led to their last two goals, but Shay Knighten managed one and sent it over the center-left fence to tie the game, 4-4.
The Bruins have come to fight at the bottom of the seventh and if they wanted to win the national championship tonight, it would be with a reverse. Taylor Pack begins the round with a single and, in one of the most bizarre movements of the evening, Tautalafua got his hands dirty to place Pack in second place. It made no sense because, despite his difficulties on the plate, Tautalafua was dominant against the Sooners. That brought Colleen Sullivan out of it. Sullivan opened the scoring to change the field player's choice to third. When Sullivan took second place on a wild course, Jacqui Prober came looking for her to pinch him. Kinsley Washington was next and she hit a left bloop. Prober finished third and headed for the house where she avoided the Lynn Elie catcher's tag.
The Bruins win 5 to 4 on a single headless! UCLA won the 118th NCAA title of the school!
