A Boston men's group is preparing a "parade of right pride" to make fun of identity politics and exercise its right to freedom of expression.
The group organizing the event, Super Happy Fun America, said the parade would celebrate "the diversity of the history, culture and contributions of the right community!"
Mark Sahady, one of the organizers, wrote on Facebook that they had to file a discrimination complaint with the city for approval. The parade is tentatively scheduled for August 31st.
"If you want to come as an individual, walk in a group, or bring a tank or a vehicle, contact us – it's our chance to organize a patriotic parade in Boston to celebrate our pride. ", did he declare.
Sahady also said in a comment on Facebook that the group "made fun of the identity politics of the left".
"It is also a question of freedom of speech In cities with democratic administrations, the rights of the first amendment of those who do not agree with the policy of the left are not respected. We will change all this using their language against them, "he said.
"We want tolerance, and we want tolerance for everyone – not just for the LGBTQ community," organizer John Hugo told the Washington Post. He said that a "very famous gay curator" will be speaking at the event. The group named actor Brad Pitt as mascot of the event.
At the end of the parade, they plan to raise a "Flag of Pride Right" on City Hall.
The effort comes as Boston prepares to host its annual LGBT pride celebration, which will last a week. June marks the national month of LGBTQ pride.
