The Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA, in partnership with the American start-up Ori, has created a line of robotic furniture allowing people to "create the houses of their dreams in small spaces".
The ROGNAN range optimizes a limited number of square feet by transforming the space into a modular and adaptable living space. A video rendering shows a sofa-closet combination that can hide a bed under itself to save space.
Save space
The system can also go back and forth with a set of wheels with buttons stowed under the wheels. The wardrobe portion can hold a ton of your belongings without losing a single square foot of space.
In total, the new "Transformers" style can store a bed, sofa, storage space and even an office in an area of about 10 square meters (10 square meters), depending on Engadget – meaning that even the smallest single mat could fit.
Robo-Furniture
The ROGNAN robotic furniture range will be on sale in IKEA stores next year. IKEA will publish more information and details later this summer.
