BEREA, Ohio – The Browns receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., stands out with a brown hoodie coming out of his white training suit and a reflective visor over his helmet.
Beckham did not talk to the media. It should be Wednesday on the second mandatory minicamp day with the Cleveland Browns.
What matters is that he walked on the pitch Tuesday and worked with his teammates. He skipped all but one of the Browns' 12 voluntary practices before the first of three camps this week.
This marked his debut with the Browns in front of an audience beyond his teammates and his coaches. Here is an overview of what the All-Pro did as in the practice that took place from 14:30 to 16:30:
14h38 – Beckham makes his first catch of the day, cutting to his left on a short drive. The play brings shouts from his teammates lined up behind them.
14h55 – The team stops for individual training sessions, which allows Beckham to become more familiar with football. He regularly makes an effort to catch the ball with one hand.
15:09 – While the offense returns to the field after spending some exercise, Beckham takes another route – almost the same place as 30 minutes earlier – but with quarterback Baker Mayfield. Beckham points the side line to run after catching him. They continued for six minutes, changing sides, and Beckham had a few other representatives on the roads to his right.
3:16 pm – Beckham misses his first reception in the middle on a high pass by Garrett Gilbert. A few representatives later, Mayfield gives Beckham a much lower shot in the same place. He catches that one.
15:30. – The first session of 11 against 11 begins.
3:36 pm – Beckham gets into the game and Mayfield immediately gives him a deep pass. The 50-yard uprising goes to the front right pylon in the end zone, but it remains about 10 yards. The ball is still too high for Beckham or anyone else to touch it.
3:41 pm – The Browns return to 7-on-7, and Mayfield does not waste time to find Beckham on a 5-meter throw on the center. They do not connect, however, on the incomplete passage in the traffic.
3:45 pm – The offensive goes up for the passing games on the 10-meter line. Beckham stays with the first rope and grabs a touchdown with a tilt in the middle of the second game after being lined up on the left side, inside Rashard Higgins.
16h02 – Back to 11 to 11, and Mayfield looks up to Beckham. Mayfield stands in his pocket, waiting longer than he could in a real game situation, and forces a deep throw to Beckham, near the left sideline. When the ball goes down, the defenders close and Greedy Williams deflects her. Beckham watched most of the remaining 28 minutes of training, talking to new teammates while the Browns were on special teams.
Beckham did not slow down on Tuesday.
For about five minutes during a special training session with special teams, Beckham met with Browns coach Freddie Kitchens and discussed.
After the training, Kitchens was asked to announce Beckham's day and whether he had shown the effects of the missing OTA sessions. Beckham did not attend Berea much, Kitchens explained, but frequently communicated with the coaches and learned about the offense.
"What did he look like?" Kitchens asked him. "Maybe you (the media) spend some time getting to know him, because he's a very smart guy and he quickly takes things in hand, even on the phone. "
