By CCN: Mark Karpeles, disgraced CEO of the infamous Mount Gox crypto exchange, has revealed new projects in the blockchain space. According to the Associated Press, he will launch a new company in order to make Japan a "world leader in blockchain".
Karpeles was convicted of data manipulation at Mt. Gox and sentenced to a suspended sentence earlier this year. Now he is looking to plunge his feet into the water with a new blockchain commercial venture.

Prosecutors sued Karpeles for embezzlement and fraud, claiming he had siphoned off $ 3 million of accounts receivables before hacking. Karpeles was acquitted of these charges, avoiding a ten-year prison sentence.
However, the judge found evidence of falsification of records in the weeks preceding the loss of funds:
"The accusation of falsification of electronic records is true and deserves a penalty."
In other words, Karpeles manipulated and falsified commercial bitcoin data on the stock market. Karpeles was sentenced to two years and six months, suspended for four years. He is currently appealing the prosecution.

The details of Karpeles' new venture are sparse, but it aims to make Japan a "world blockchain leader."
Karpeles also wrote a book called Cryptocurrency 3.0, released in May. The editors refer to Karpeles as a "genius" that has been proven "clean".
