The Galaxy Home, Samsung's smart speaker announced nearly ten months ago, has just moved closer to a decent release date.
Sending to the Korea Herald, Samsung CEO Kim Hyun-suk said:
The Galaxy Home speaker, which will be the center of Samsung's home appliances, is expected to launch in the middle of the second half of the year.
According to other Samsung executives, the "middle of the second half" would result in a launch in the third quarter of 2019.
If you remember well, it's a bit later than Samsung's initial plan to launch Galaxy Home in the first half of 2019. It's unclear what to stand for, but I hope this is a sign that we are finally getting closer to the power of buying and using the thing.
Speaking of Galaxy Home, we learned last month that Samsung was also working on a smaller and more affordable version of the speaker, which went along with the standard one. We do not know if this little Galaxy Home will be launched parallel to the main one, and honestly, I'm on record. I just want Samsung to release Something so we can see what a smart speaker made by Samsung looks like.
Samsung focused on the sound quality when it launched the Galaxy Home alongside Note 9 last August, and considering that Bixby will be the virtual assistant of choice, hope that the speakers will be good enough to make up for Bixby's shortcomings.
